The cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned home in this section of Gilberton on Sunday, is still unknown.
According to the Republican Herald, Frackville Police Chief Richard Bell said he and state police fire marshal Trooper John Burns of the Frackville station were at the scene at 116 Island Road on Tuesday morning to examine building.
Bell said that both agreed the home is structurally unsafe and too dangerous to enter, even to attempt to look for where and how the fire started so the cause will remain classified as “suspicious.”
