Medicaid increase...

Hundreds of caregivers and administrators gathered at the Capitol, in Harrisburg, Wednesday, to ask lawmakers for an increase in Medicaid funding in the state budget.

They were also asking them to enact a measure to end lawsuit abuse that targets long term care providers like nursing homes.

Leaders with the Pa Health Care Association say their limited funding is running out and the 81,000 people they care for in the state are suffering because of it.

They are asking for an increase of 2.7 percent in the 2017-2018 budget. Russel McDaid, the President and CEO of PHCA says based on current Medicaid reimbursement levels skilled nursing facilitates are paid more than $25 less per day than the cost of providing care and if there isn't an increase it will only get worse.
