Today is Dump the Pump day.
The Schuylkill Transportation System is joining with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the eleventh annual event, sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association.
The 2016 National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation, instead of driving a car.
This year’s slogan is “Dump the Pump, Ride Public Transit.”
All passengers today can ride any fixed route vehicle today with STS for free.
In 2015, Americans took 10.6 billion trips on public transportation, the third highest in 10 years.
