Murder trial begins Monday...

18 year old Stanley E. Kralik will testify Monday morning when he goes on trial for allegedly killing a man in January 2014 in Coaldale.

According to the Republican Herald, State police at Frackville allege that Kralik and 23 year old Oliver L. Trizarri, of Reading, fatally beat Corey M. Samuels between 11 p.m. Jan. 20, 2014, and midnight Jan. 21, 2014, in a wooded area off East Miner Street. Police said Samuels’ body was not found until Sept. 6, 2014, and that an examination of it by a forensic anthropologist revealed signs of head trauma, piercing wounds, fractures and dislodged teeth.

Kralik faces charges of first-degree murder, among others and if convicted of the most serious charge, first-degree murder, he faces a sentence of life in prison.

Trizarri pleaded guilty on Feb. 19 before Judge John E. Domalakes to third-degree murder and conspiracy. Domalakes has not yet sentenced Trizarri, but a plea agreement that requires he testify against Kralik, would have him sentenced to serve 15 to 30 years in a state correctional institution.

The trial is set to begin Monday at 9:30 a.m.
