Servants To All, located in Pottsville, is the only Schuylkill County organization that has applied for funding from the 2016 Emergency Solutions Grant.
According to the Republican Herald, two other local groups, Schuylkill Community Action and Schuylkill Women in Crisis, did not apply this year due to foreseen difficulties with guaranteeing spending requirements.
In March, the three organizations received $461,022 from the 2015 grant that comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Servants To All received about $70,000 last year. The nonprofit organization used that funding to hire case workers for My Father’s House at 4 S. Centre St., Pottsville. The program provides food, clothing and temporary shelter while helping clients find permanent housing, employment and receive services from other agencies.
The organization has applied this round for about $282,000, which includes $151,000 for essential services, $90,000 for shelter operations and $30,000 for housing vouchers.
