Over a dozen dogs were removed from a home on Mahanoy City on Monday.
According to Skook News, the Hillside SPCA responded to a tip, with assistance from police, to 308 West Mahanoy St. in the borough for the report of 30 dogs inside a home. Inside the home, just under 20 small dogs, all crated were found.
The home was reportedly in good condition, but the SPCA was called so the dogs were taken back to the shelter for examination.
Authorities said they believe it was a case of someone trying to breed dogs and they became overwhelmed. The owners also consented to surrendering the dogs.
Mahanoy City Code Enforcement deemed the home unfit for habitation due to there being no water connected to the home and also not having the proper permits.
Charges are pending until the dogs have been examined by a veterinarian.
