The victims of two separate fatal pedestrian accidents Saturday evening in Schuylkill County have been identified.
The first fatality occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Route 924, Ringtown Boulevard, in West Mahanoy Township, when 24 year old Onesimo Palomino Asencio, of Hazleton, was walking in the northbound lanes of Route 924 when he was struck by a 1999 Toyota Rav 4 driven north by 19 year old Monica Arnold, of Mahanoy City.
According to the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office, Asencio died at the scene while Arnold and her two passengers were not injured.
Emergency personnel were then called out for a second pedestrian struck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 at Milemarker 133. State police said 40 year old Raymond Milosh III, of Ringtown, was driving a vehicle that became disabled on the right berm of the interstate just south of the Delano exit and, for some reason, walked into the right lane of the interstate and into the path of a 2004 Ford Explorer driven south by a 26-year-old man.
The driver of the SUV attempted to swerve trying to avoid hitting Milosh but was unable to do so and struck the man with the right front of the vehicle.
Troopers said no charges are expected to be filed against the drivers in the two crashes and that a state police accident reconstruction expert assisted in the investigations.
