PA has a new budget...

It may be two weeks late, but Pennsylvania has a new budget. The spending plan kicked in at midnight, but there is still work left to do on the $31 billion dollar spending plan.

Governor Wolf allowed the budget to go into effect at midnight, even though he didn't sign it, citing concerns about where the money to run the state will come from.

There is still a 1.3 billion dollar gap between income and out-go.

The state is banking on additional revenue from expanded gambling, a higher cigarette tax, and a modernized liquor store system.

The state had hoped to get wine into supermarkets when a new law takes effect next month. The liquor control board says it's still working on licenses and procedures, with the best estimate now from state officials is that wine could be in supermarkets by Thanksgiving.
