A female employee of West Penn Township was killed Wednesday afternoon while cutting grass.
According to West Penn Township Police, 54 year old Tina Hoppes, of New Ringgold, was cutting grass along a stream near the township community park on Zions Stone Church Road when the embankment gave out.
The riding lawn mower rolled down the bank pinning her under the water.
Authorities said the roll bar of the mower was not fixed and the seat belts were not in use.
Hoppes was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m.
Schuylkill County Coroner, Dr. David J. Moylan III, was scheduled to perform a virtual autopsy on Wednesday evening.
The incident is still under investigation.
