State police at Frackville are on the lookout for 54 year old Joseph Dwain Hartranft, of Schuylkill Township, who they say might be armed with a gun.
State police at Frackville and local law enforcement officers went to Hartranft’s home, located at 614 Old Route 209 in Newkirk, Schuylkill Township, at about 4 p.m. Tuesday to serve him papers. Police said he was not cooperative and after re-entering his hoMe, he ran from the property into a wooded area carrying a long gun.
According to authorities, Hartranft is prohibited from owning a firearm.
On-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, issued a felony arrest warrant for Hartranft at 7pm but as of 10 p.m., he had not yet been taken into custody.
Anyone who sees Hartranft should use extreme caution and call 911 or the Frackville barracks at 570-874-5300.
