Since fire destroyed the Mount Carbon community firehouse and the borough council offices in October 2013, borough officials have been considering options to improve the areas where the blaze occurred.

The Republican Herald reports that according to Chris Walters, chief of Mount Carbon-North Manheim Township Fire Company No. 1, fire company representatives are still making arrangements to build a new fire house at 120 Main St. and are hoping to have groundbreaking by October.

Walters said plans are still being finalized, but he believes it will be “a million-dollar project.”
