Schuylkill County Sheriff Joseph G. Groody wants to know why prison staff refused to accept a fugitive captured by Butler Township police on Sunday night.
Police caught the man, wanted in Northumberland County but when they called the county prison, they were told he could not be housed overnight so Butler Township police had no choice but to let the man go.
Northumberland County deputies would have picked him up the next day.
Warden Eugene Berdanier said he would look into it and find out why that happened.
