A Lehigh County Judge sentenced 26 year old Anthony Heath, of Allentown, to life in prison plus eight to 16 years for murdering a Schuylkill County woman and burning her body.
Firefighters investigating a brush fire the morning of Feb. 1, 2014, found 35 year old Angela Steigerwalt’s body on the side of Flagstaff Mountain in Jim Thorpe.
Heath was arrested a day later in North Carolina, driving Steigerwalt’s car after police tracked the vehicle through the car’s OnStar system.
On June 23, a jury found Heath guilty of first-degree murder for killing Steigerwalt on Jan. 31, 2014. The verdict guaranteed Heath a life sentence without parole.
Heath told the judge that he plans to appeal.
