State and local officials are reminding those who were impacted by the recent flooding to be aware of con artists.
Authorities say there have been stories of fraudulent contractors showing up in affected areas offering their help for a price and then skipping town.
The State Attorney General's office advises those affected by the flood to make sure the contractor’s credentials are real, be sure they have a home improvement contractor’s license, never pay in cash, ask for references and check out the contractor with your local better business bureau.
