The Pottsville Area school board will hold a special meeting to vote once again on the future of Gillingham Charter School.
According to the Republican Herald, an out-of-town hearing officer, Marc S. Fisher, of Allentown, was paid by the district to serve as hearing officer at a series of 12 public hearings regarding Gillingham’s request for a second five-year charter.
Tonight, the board will report and act on the hearing officer’s recommendations.
On Dec. 2, the Pottsville Area school board rejected Gillingham’s application for a second five-year charter.
Pottsville Area Superintendent Jeffrey S. Zwiebel would not release Fisher’s report to the public on Tuesday, stating that, “The Hearing Officer’s Report and Recommendation had yet to be voted on by the Board of Directors and will not be released publicly until after the board’s vote.”
The board meeting will take place at 7pm tonight.
