A crash that closed a stretch of Old Route 22 in Berks County turned fatal Thursday morning.
53 year old Starr Young, of Hamburg, died at Reading Hospital after being taken there for treatment of injuries she suffered in the crash, which involved her car and two pickup trucks on Old Route 22 in Tilden Township, just outside of Hamburg.
Authorities say Young was traveling south on Clayton Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. Thursday, when she slid into the intersection of Old Route 22, also known as West State Street, and into the path of one of the pickup trucks.
The driver of the first pickup, a 46-year-old woman from Bernville, was also taken to Reading Hospital, where she underwent surgery for her injuries.
The driver of the second pickup truck, a 58-year-old Hamburg man, was not seriously injured.
