Spraying to control the high populations of mosquitoes will take place this week in Schuylkill County.
According to Skook News, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Schuylkill County Mosquito-Borne Disease Programs will conduct a mosquito control operation to reduce high populations of mosquitoes on Thursday, August 2, 2018, in portions of Cressona and Schuylkill Haven Boroughs.
According to DEP's web site, Schuylkill County is marked as "High Risk" and is consider a Hot Zone for the West Nile Virus. Since the beginning of July, 19 Mosquitos have tested positive for the virus across areas of Schuylkill County.
Weather conditions could delay or cancel this spray operation. The rain date is scheduled for Monday, August 6, 2018.
