Kane's fate...

The fate of State Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane will be in the hands of a Montgomery County jury today.

According to the Republican Herald, the prosecution rested its case Friday after calling 14 witnesses. Kane opted not to testify or call any witnesses on her behalf.

Kane is accused of leaking secret grand jury information of the 2009 probe of J. Whyatt Mondesire to a Philadelphia newspaper, then lying to the grand jury that investigated the leak.

Prosecutors have said Kane leaked the documents to retaliate against Frank Fina, a former prosecutor in her office she blamed for leaking information that led to a negative story detailing her decision not to file charges against several Philadelphia-area legislators accused of accepting bribes.

The panel will start deliberating after attorneys for the defense and prosecution present their closing arguments, which are set to begin this morning.
