It was in August of 1963 when three miners were trapped 300-feet underground by a cave in Sheppton, Pennsylvania.
After nearly 52 years of failed attempts to obtain a marker at the site, a historical marker will be placed on the pole near the site this weekend.
The three miners were 28-year-old Henry "Hank' Throne, 58-year-old David Fellin and 54-year-old Lou Bova. For 14 days there was around the clock effort to rescue the miners. Throne and Rellin were rescued, however, Bova was never found.
The historical marker will be placed on Schoolhouse Road just outside of Sheppton, about a half mile from the actual site which is located deeper into a wooded area, Saturday at 10am.
