A former deputy coroner in Schuylkill and Carbon counties will spend even more time behind bars.
61 year old Edward Smith, of Tamaqua, who is already in state prison as a result of sex-related charges in Luzerne County, admitted Wednesday in Schuylkill County Court that he victimized a teenage boy in 2015 and 2016 in Tamaqua.
Judge James P. Goodman ruled that Smith must serve an additional eight to 16 years in a state correctional institution, plus three more years on probation.
Goodman also imposed lifetime Megan’s Law sanctions on Smith as the result of the plea.
