Schuylkill County is gearing up for today’s solar eclipse and Penn State Schuylkill will be holding a public event in a grassy area in front of the classroom building for those interested in watching.
The Republican Herald reports that Schuylkill County is not in the path of totality, which is when the moon completely covers the sun.
Skywatchers in the county will see a partial eclipse with about 75 percent of the sun to be covered, according to www.timeanddate.com. It will begin at 1:18 p.m. and end at 3:58 p.m., with maximum coverage at 2:41 p.m.
A watching event will also be held at the observatory at Pottsville Area High School. However, there are no more available spaces.
