The Pottsville Police will be conducting extra mobile and foot patrols with the start of school next week.
According to Skook News, the program called “Safe School Start” was initiated by the department in 2016 and utilizes additional uniformed officers to conduct specialized patrols during the first days of school to concentrate on highlighting awareness and compliance to existing Motor Vehicle Code laws with emphasis being placed on those dealing with school bus stops, speeding, distracted driving and seatbelt use.
