U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright announced Thursday that Schuylkill County officials will have more money to combat violence against women.
According to the Republican Herald, the $450,000 federal grant will last three years, with the county getting $150,000 per year.
Schuylkill Women In Crisis will receive $300,000 of it, which will be useful in aiding abuse victims in court.
Cartwright said the money will come from the Office of Violence Against Women’s Improving Criminal Justice responses grant program.
The office is part of the U.S. Department of Justice.
