More than 1,200 backpacks were stuffed with school supplies Monday morning for the Schuylkill United Way’s 16th annual Stuff the Bus campaign. According to the Republican Herald, Kelly K. Malone, Schuylkill United Way executive director, said an additional 504 backpacks will be stuffed and be distributed to the Tamaqua Salvation Army and the Tamaqua Area School District.
Malone said 1,570 backpacks would be needed to house all the collected supplies for this year, so the 200 extra backpacks and supplies will be distributed throughout the community.
The backpacks will be filled with the three tons of supplies that were collected and donated throughout the summer.
