Dams to be removed...



 

The state Department of Environmental Protection Secretary, Patrick McDonnell announced Wednesday, that the Kernsville and Landingville dams soon will be removed. 


According to the Republican Herald, McDonnell did not giving a timetable for either dam’s removal, but said the department intends for each to be taken down as soon and as safely as possible. 


McDonnell said Kernsville is a priority because there have been several drownings in the Schuylkill River at the nearby Peace Rock. T


he Landingville Dam is located in South Manheim Township between Landingville and Lake Wynonah. 


McDonnell visited Carbon and Schuylkill counties on Wednesday as part of a three-day tour of DEP’s Northeast region.
