St. Lukes/Geisinger agreement...

St. Luke’s University Health Network and Geisinger Health System have signed a collaborative agreement to improve access to affordable health care throughout the region.

The Republican Herald reports that under the agreement, the health networks will explore new value-based payment models and will also introduce a Medicare Advantage product for Medicare recipients across the Lehigh Valley that will better manage chronic conditions and provide access to services not covered under traditional Medicare and Medigap plans.

St. Luke’s has seven hospitals, including Miners Campus in Coaldale which serves Schuylkill, Carbon and Lower Luzerne counties, and more than 200 sites throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.

Geisinger has 12 hospitals and nearly 1,600 physicians serving patients largely in central and northeastern Pennsylvania, including Schuylkill County.
