In an effort to save money, the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 Board of Directors decided Monday to eliminate its Partial Hospitalization Program beginning Dec. 1.
According to the Republican Herald, the program serves special needs students who required certain psychological services while at school.
The action will now force the school districts those students are from to decide how, and where, those students will receive that care.
The IU 29 had the program for more than 10 years and is currently serving six students.
In the vote, the board decided to eliminate the three full-time positions in the program and furlough the three employees who held those posts.
