U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright announced this week that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded Deer Lake & West Brunswick Fire Company No. 1, with an Assistance to Firefighters Grant, valued over $273,000.
According to the Republican Herald, the Deer Lake & West Brunswick Fire Company, Orwigsburg, serves as the host for this Regional Award on behalf of its mutual aid partners, the Landingville Fire Company and the Orwigsburg Fire Department.
The funds are expected to be used to purchase Self-Contained Breathing
Apparatus units to replace current inventories and will be distributed via the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
