Road work in the city of Pottsville will cause US 209/Mauch Chunk Street to be closed and a detour will be in place from 7 p.m. tonight (Sept. 8) until 7 a.m. Friday (Sept. 9) for construction of a pipe crossing & electrical conduit placement.
US 209 South traffic will be detoured on PA 61 North to Norwegian Street. US 209 North traffic will be detoured on South Centre Street, Mt. Carbon Arch Road and PA 61 north.
The work is part of a $10,568,416 project to replace the PA 61 Bridges in the City of Pottsville and Palo Alto Borough.
Motorists should expect delays and use caution driving through the work zone.
