Ashland Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash


 An Ashland man died in Northumberland County on Saturday night when he drove his motorcycle off a road and struck two trees, state police at Stonington said Sunday.

Accordiing to the Republican Herald, the incident occurred in East Cameron Township at 7: 54 p. m. Saturday when Kenneth P. Weikel, 47, was driving a 2004 Harley- Davidson east on Route 2044, also known as Upper Road, in the right lane, police said. 

While driving a slight left curve, Weikel exited his lane and drove off the eastbound shoulder. He traveled approximately 181 feet then the front end of the motorcycle hit a large tree. The bike continued southeast for approximately 19 feet and hit a second tree, police said.  

The motorcycle came to rest off the eastbound shoulder of the road facing southeast, police said.
