by News Department on 06/08/15Schuylkill County has started accepting applications for the 2015 Community Development Block Grant program.
Since 1974, the CDBG program has provided local communities with funding to address a wide range of development needs and is one of the longest, continuously running programs by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Gary Bender, county director of community development, said while funding will not become available until the fall, he estimates that the county will receive about $275,000 this year.
The deadline to submit applications is Aug. 7.
