D 24 LL SPN 9, Orwigsburg 8

Jake Kuperavage stroked two home runs and drove in 6 runs to lead SPN to a 9-8 win over Orwigsburg in District 24 Little League action Saturday at James S. Clark Field in New Philadelphia.
In a game heard on AM 1360 WPPA and wpparadio.com, SPN batted first, and wasted no time taking the lead. Riley Stanton and Dylan Shirey singled, and Kuperavage hit the first of his two blasts. Morgan Rupert walked, and Jayce Adamick drove him in to make it 4-0.
Orwigsburg got on the board in the 2nd. Peyton Hashin walked, and Mike Myro ran for him. Caden Eichert singled, they moved up on a passed ball, and Myro scored on a groundout off the bat of Garth Griffith to make it 4-1.
SPN scored another run in the 3rd. Kuperavavge -- 4-4 with a walk, single and thw two homers -- singled, and David Cook drove him home with a double to make it 5-1.
Orwigsburg inched back, with 2 runs in the 3rd. IHashin singled, and Alex Tidmore stroked a 2-run home run to make the score 5-3.
in the 4th, Orwigsburg took the lead as Myro singled, and Justin McClure drove him home with a double to make it 5-4. Preston Sincavage doubled, and Billy Gerlott drove both of them home with a double to put O'Burg up 6-5.
SPN tied the score in their half of the 5th. Kuperavage walked, moved to 2B on a groundout, to 3B on a passed ball and scored on a passed ball to tie the score 6-6.
SPN took the lead for good in the 6th. John Holobetz walked, Shirey singled, and Kuperavage slammed his second, 3-run home run of the game to put SPN up 9-6.
But Orwigsburg did not go down without a fight. In their last at-bat, Brady Bedway, Gerlott and Tidmore singled. Hashin walked in Bedway, and Gerlott scored on a sacrifice fly by Eichert. But Myro grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
In other District 24 action Saturday, Schuylkill Haven -- SPN's next opponent -- beat Minersville, 9-7, and Upper Dauphin defeated Pottsville Rotary 12-3.
