City to fine for unshoveled sidewalks...

Pottsville residents who do not clear their sidewalk after it snows, risk getting a fine.

City Building Code Officer David Petravich said that some property owners have yet to shovel after Saturday’s snowfall.

According to City code 194-6, the pavement has to be cleared within a foot of the curb within the first 12 hours after every snowfall.

Those cited will receive a $25 fine via regular mail. They have 15 days to appeal it in writing to City Administrator Thomas A. Palamar.

If the fine is not paid within 30 days, it is forwarded to the local district magistrate’s office.
