East Union Township supervisors have decided to allow mini-casinos to locate within the township.
Communities allowing the mini-casinos earn a percentage of the local assessment fee paid by the mini-casino license holder.
The amount is capped at 50 percent of municipality’s annual budget. With a $1.2 million budget, East Union Township could earn more than $500,000 should a mini-casino open.
Communities were given the option to ban mini-casinos by the end of the year under Act 42, which authorized up to 10 mini-casinos to open in the state.
Mini-Casinos have at least 350 slot machines but no more than 750 slot machines or table games.
