Physicians and pharmacists are encouraging individuals to get their flu shot as soon as they can.
A report from the Infectious Diseases Section at St. Luke’s University Health Network, recommends that anyone over the age of 65 get the high-dose shot as soon as possible, as it takes two weeks to build up the immunity after the shot is given.
Those who are under the age of 65 do not need to worry too much about the type of shot they receive. This year, many locations are offering the trivalent or quadrivalent versions of the vaccine, which protect against three and four strains of the flu, respectively.
