Two Mahanoy City Police officers rescued a man and his infant child from their burning home in Mahanoy Township early Tuesday morning.
According to the Republican Herald, Mahanoy City firefighters and borough police were called to the 900 block of West Centre Street around 12:15 a.m. for a report of a working house fire with entrapment.
At the scene, officers Thomas Rentschler and Jennifer Dempsey heard a man yelling for help from a second floor bedroom window and were able to enter the home and evacuate the man and infant, who escaped injury.
No information as to the cause of the fire or the extent of damage is yet available.
