One person is dead and another hospitalized after a suspected double drug overdose in Hazleton.
Authorities received the call around 9:30 Thursday morning about an unresponsive couple at 712 Emerald Court.
Police responded to what turned out to be a suspected double drug overdose. They were administered Narcan on the scene, but the opioid antidote was only half successful. The woman died from the suspected overdose while the man with her was flown to a hospital for treatment. Four children in the home ranging from infant to seven years old were taken and placed in protective custody.
The apartment where they lived was condemned.
The man was said to be in very serious condition. Toxicology test results on the woman who died are expected to take several weeks to get back.
The four children in the home were also taken to the hospital to get checked out before children and youth services determined who will care for them.
