Nearly 500 pounds of drugs were collected Saturday as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Schuylkill County.
According to the Republican Herald, a total of 33 boxes were collected at different police departments and the courthouse by the Sheriff’s Office.
People were able to drop off their unused, unwanted or expired medication at the county courthouse and participating police departments.
Drug Enforcement Agency personnel collected the drugs for disposal Monday. Deputies will still accept unwanted prescriptions for disposal during normal business hours at the county courthouse, 401 N. Second St., Pottsville.
A drug take back in April of this year collected 423 pounds. An October 2016 take back resulted in 404 pounds collected.
