Schuylkill County commissioner George Halcovage was invited to a state and local government tax-reform and economic competitiveness discussion at the White House, on Thursday.
The White House administration brought in leaders from all over the country talking about ways to help middle class America.
Halcovage used his platform at the White House to speak on behalf of coal region citizens, bringing up concerns with state and local income tax deductions, and home mortgage interest rates.
Democrtas held up a united front on the house tax bill vote, while 13 republicans jumped ship. The battle now moves to the senate.
A vote is expected before Christmas.
