The Holiday Assistance Program, run by the Salvation Army, provided Schuylkill County residents with food and winter gear on Monday for the Thanksgiving component of the program.
More than 400 people signed up for the Holiday Assistance Program in the county this year. Assistance for the Christmas component, which also includes food, toys and winter clothing, will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
Toys distributed from the Toys for Tots campaign and Angel trees, a program in which people can buy gifts for children, will be given out before Christmas. Angel tree tags will be available at different locations in the county.
Donations should be dropped off by Dec. 15. Toys for Tots donations are also being accepted at numerous county locations. T102’s annual Toys for Tots drive will be held Friday, December 16, at McDonalds, Route 61, Pottsville from 6am to 6pm.
Christmas distribution is Dec. 19 and 20 at the Pottsville Four Square Gospel Church, 2300 Mahantongo St., with countywide distribution Dec. 19.
