Beams were delivered to a home, in Schuylkill County, that is teetering on the edge a 40 foot wide mine subsidence.
The home is located on Park Place Road near Mahanoy City and the 120 foot long beams are the key to hopefully saving the home from collapsing into the subsidence.
The family of six living in the home does not have the mine subsidence insurance, so Tim Brennan, with T. Brennan Heavy Equipment, is the contractor hired by the state to stabilize the house and then fill in the mine subsidence.
The state's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation will pay for the work to fill in the hole and cover the cost to stabilize the house. But because the family did not have the mine subsidence insurance they will have to pay out of pocket to repair the damage to the home's foundation, which could cost upwards of $40,000 to $50,000.
