Pottsville Police and Animal Rescue Officials are investigating the death of an unidentified dog in Pottsville.
City police received the report from the SPCA that a deceased dog was lying in the 800 block of North Second Street, Sunday.
Authorities confirmed a female deceased Pit Bull, brown and white in color, with several visible wounds was found to have been abandoned near a wooded area off the roadway.
According to SPCA Officials, the dog was reported to have suffered significant injuries but none were reported to be fatal. Officials are still determining how the dog died.
A $1,000 is being offered to anyone that can provide information that leads to an arrest.
