Mold still an issue...

Mold is still causing students to be displaced at Pottsville Area’s John S. Clarke Elementary Center.

According to the Republican Herald, Superintendent Jeffrey S. Zwiebel said the students with classes on the second floor of the building were not back in their classrooms as of Monday, as the school is waiting on test results before sending the children back to the second level classrooms.

Mold has interrupted the school since the academic year began in August, forcing it to open a week late. Afterward, mold was also found at other times and cleared without the need to close the school.

Testing in October found mold on the second floor and the nurse’s office on the first floor.

Second-grade students and several first-grade students are still attending classes at Martz Hall.
