The Mahanoy Township Water Authority has notified its customers that due to drought conditions, the Mahanoy Township Authority is activating Stage 1 of their Drought Contingency Plan, prohibiting all Non-Essential Water Uses in the service area.
This declaration is due to combined water levels in the Authority’s reservoirs being less than 55% capacity system wide.
If conditions do not improve over the next several days a water rationing plan may be implemented. The Emergency Service Area includes Mahanoy Township, Mahanoy City and Gilberton Borough.
