A Schuylkill County man is being charged for a bank robbery that took place in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the BB&T bank, located at 109 N. Oak Street, was robbed just after 9:30am Tuesday.
Police said the suspect was able to get away with over $3,000. The suspect, 32 year old Brandon Brown, of Butler Township, was to be able to be identified through video footage of the getaway vehicle.
Borough police Chief Todd Owens said money and a note believed to be the one given to the teller in the Tuesday morning robbery were recovered at Brown’s home. Owens said when officers arrived at his residence, in the afternoon; he was attempting to flee out of the back door and was apprehended by officers.
Brown was detained in connection with the robbery and then arrested on non-related felony drug charges.
Brown was arraigned before Magisterial Judge John Gembic III and is being held at Columbia County Prison on $75,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 27 on the drug charges.
