Below-freezing temperatures are set to hit our area this week and people are being cautioned to bundle up if heading outdoors.
John Blickley, deputy emergency management coordinator for Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency, said the biggest thing people should be on the lookout for in this kind of weather is frostbite and hypothermia if exposed to the elements for too long.
According to the National Weather Service, in State College, the middle of the week will see temperatures reach the upper 20s today and Thursday before it takes a turn for the worse, Friday’s high will be in the low 20s with a “potential” for a little snow Friday night into Saturday morning.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will have temperatures only reaching into the teens for a high but will feel colder due to the wind-chill factor.
