Medical Marijuana...

Governor Tom Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of health announced this week that over 10,000 patients have registered to participate in the Medical Marijuana Program.

In addition, eight facilities have been approved for growing and processing the medicinal substance.

These include PA Medical Solutions in Lackawanna County and Standard Farms in Luzerne County.

The facilities underwent several inspections from the Department of Health and are fully integrated with the seed-to-sale tracking system.

They are now able to accept seeds and clones to begin growing the substance.

Acting Health Secretary and Physician General Dr. Rachel Levine says there are four more grower/processors in the final stages of inspection.

Along with patients, physicians are continuing to register for the program. To date, 550 have registered and 250 have completed training to become certified practitioners. The Medical Marijuana Program became effective in May 2016 and is expected to be fully implemented by 2018.
