U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta withdrew his name Thursday morning from consideration to become secretary of labor in President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet.
Barletta, a member of Trump’s transition team executive committee, in Hazleton, reported after his Nov. 29 meeting with the president-elect, that Trump offered him the job and he wanted “a day or so” to think about it.
Barletta said that after much consideration he believes he can get a lot more done as a congressman on issues he’s passionate about like transportation and immigration.
