High wind causes outages...

High winds and trees contacting power lines were to blame for power outages to hundreds of residents in Schuylkill County, Monday.

According to the PPL outage website, there were approximately 348 customers affected in Mechanicsville and Port Carbon, 257 in Deer Lake and nine, in Schuylkill Haven, earlier in the day.

The site at www.pplelectric.com/outage also listed 20 customers in the Hegins area without power due to “tree limbs on wires.”

Crews were estimated to have repairs completed and power restored by 7 p.m. Monday.
