A woman was seriously injured in a crash near Tamaqua late Tuesday.
Emergency personnel were called to the West Penn Pike (Route 309) near Clamtown Road in West Penn Township, near Tamaqua around 10:15pm, for a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a tractor trailer with heavy entrapment.
A woman travelling south on Route 309 reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a tractor trailer head on.
The woman was entrapped in her vehicle over an hour until she was taken to a waiting helicopter and flown to an area hospital.
Two other occupants were also in the vehicle but it was not known if they were trapped or the extent of their injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
